Why Nursing, Modesty?

May 12, 2014. 29 days more before classes starts again but I’m here sitting in a couch thinking a good topic for my requirement in computer class this summer. Yes, I’m having my summer classes every day, waking up very early in the morning, reviewing, making paper works and go home by five while other students are enjoying their summer vacation, going to the beach, go out with friends and of course watching television and sleeping the entire day. Going back, like what I have said that I’m thinking a good topic for my blog requirement. Yes, we were asked to make a good topic that is connected to our course or anything under the sun. Well, I think I don’t need to go further anymore, let’s just set out, by sharing to you why I choose Nursing.

A lot of people have asked me why I took up Nursing for college instead of getting culinary arts because I also love to cook or tourism course because I travel a lot or maybe filming and photography because I’m doing videos and short film. Well, I also asked myself about this, getting a four year coursed that I know that I will not find a job eventually after I graduated and passed my board exam. But despite all of these I have no regret. I know that my two siblings are registered nurses and I have seen their sleepless night reviewing, doing paper works, duties and all of these efforts just to finish their course and as the youngest in the family do I need to follow what they have taken? I admit it is a parent’s choice but it is also my choice. As a second year nursing student I own up that there are a lot of sacrifices to be a nursing student first, you need to wake up early in order not to be late because you’re going to make-up all of those accumulated minutes, second to sacrifice not to eat for snacks or lunch just to review because you will be having a long exam later, third you’re going to wear a 5 layer of clothes especially for us females consisting the underwear, the chemise, the stocking, the gala uniform and lastly the apron. Fourth, you’re going to review word by word of what have been discussed by the teacher, memorizing and knowing the interesting parts of the body, drugs and of course computing and finally nursing students and nurses doesn't have holidays, we work every day just to care, cure, and help the people who are in need and sick in order for them to be healthy and well individual. Even there are a lot of sacrifices to be a nursing student and nurses, seeing your patient smile and say “Thank you annako” in the end of our shift our feelings are satisfied, happy and feels so rewarded.

Being a nursing student or nurses is a very rewarding job and this makes me believe that I made that right choice why I took up nursing for college. And Yes, I will be turning third year nursing student this coming school year and I’m so grateful that finally two years have been passed already and two more years till I, we, graduate nursing and have our own licensed.
